This week someone asked me what my favorite Bible verse is. Well, I almost started stuttering. I do have some, but I really suck at knowing verses by heart. I guess that for some reason I’d rather write about it than talk about it. Writing usually gives me time to (over)think and look things up. Anyway, I wanted to share one of my favorite Bible verses with you. Maybe you’ve read it a hundred times before. In this blog I’m letting you know why I love to meditate on this verse. Therefore you can state that this blog is a personal confirmation and affirmation for me.
“(…) those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
Soar on wings
Do you know what stuck with me all the time? The sentence “they will soar on wings like eagles” was on repeat mode in my head. Why? In my life there were several times that I felt that I was going to break. There were moments that some certain figures in my life wanted me to bend. Yes, they wanted me to bow down for them. Situations in life can be rough. People around you can act mean. However, this verse calls us to soar. That is why I started saying to myself:
In other words situations, life events or mortal beings might shake you. Most important is that their word isn’t final. God His word is. God is. If you’re a believer you’ll notice that there aren’t a lot of options out there. The only good option is to put your trust in God. We have to focus on God. If we don’t then there is no way for us to really get strengthen from the inside out.
A lot of I’s right? That’s not because I’m great. It is a reminder. Just a short note to myself. Naomi, what are you going to do? What am I going to do? So, what are you going to do when you’re going through hard times? You won’t bow for that negative person or situation. You will stand firm on the solid rock called Jesus. And you certainly won’t let others or the situation break you. You will soar…. So fly like an eagle.
