This week someone asked me what my favorite Bible verse is. I almost started stuttering. I do have some, but I really suck at knowing verses by heart. I guess that for some reason I’d rather write about it than talk about it. Writing usually gives me time to think, overthink and look things up. Anyway, I wanted to share one of my favorite Bible verses with you. Maybe you’ve seen it a hundred times before, but in this blog I’m letting you know why I love to meditate on this verse. So you see, it is personal.
“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
Soar on wings
You know what stuck with me all the time? The sentence “they will soar on wings like eagles”. In my life there were several times that I felt that I was going to break or that some certain figures in my life wanted me to bend (down for them). I mean, situations in life can be rough and people around you can act mean. But this verse calls us to soar. I start saying to myself: I won’t bow, I won’t bend and I won’t break, I’ll soar above it all.
In other words situations, life events or mortal beings might shake you, but their word isn’t final. God His word is. God is. If you’re a believer you’ll notice that there aren’t a lot of options out there: the only good option is to put your trust in God. We have to focus on God. If we don’t then there is no way for us to really get strengthen from the inside out.
Soar above it all
I repeat: I won’t bow, I won’t bend and I won’t break, I’ll soar above it all. I use a lot of I’s, not because I’m that great. But it is a reminder, a short note to myself. Naomi, what are you going to do? What am I going to do?
So, what are you going to do when you’re going through hard times? You won’t bow for that negative person or situation. You will stand firm on the solid rock called Jesus and you certainly won’t let others or the situation break you. You will soar….
